From the very first time I met Lucy and Karl I knew I would enjoy shooting their wedding. I wasn’t wrong. They were just a joy to work with, fun, relaxed and chilled. Even getting them out of bed before 6am for a sunrise engagement shoot where the sun didn’t appear didn’t phase them!
Lucy and her bridesmaids got ready at the Town Hall Hotel in Bethnal Green, a wedding venue in it’s own right and a popular location for photo and film shoots. Scenes from films such as Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels have been filmed there. The room was filled with engergy provided by flower girls Summer, Poppy and Isla who looked very cool and cute in their coloured Converse All Stars.
Lucy’s dress by Naomi Neoh was just amazing and I’m sure you’ll agree she looked incredible in it. Her shoes by Belle by Paradox have a nice little story to go with them too. The company used to be owned by Lucy’s dad which he sold when he retired so she just had to choose a pair of their shoes to get married in. The moment Lucy’s dad walked into the room to see his little girl in her wedding dress will live with me for ever. I don’t mind admitting that there were just as many tears in my eyes as there were in his. A really special moment that I was privlidged to witness. It’s things like that that make this job so amazing.
From Bethnal Green to the ceremony at the amazing Islington Town Hall where I had a chance to grab a few shots of Karl and his best man team greeting the guests, many of whom had travelled down from Karl’s home city of Manchester to be at the wedding. Islington Town Hall is a fantastic building and if you’re planning a London Wedding I’d seriously consider having your ceremony here.
A classic Route Master Bus had been laid on to take guest from Islington Town Hall to the reception at The Artisan of Clerkenwell where we were treated to some of the best wedding food I’ve ever had. Anti-pasti/Tapas style starter boards and proper burgers and chips for main. Karl, friends and the team at The Artisan did one hell of a job decorating the pub on the morning of the wedding. It was so colourful and vibrant with personal styling and details everywhere.
It was a day filled with colour, smiles, laughs, love, booze, great food, cool people and crazy dancing, weddings don’t get much more perfect.
Huge congratulations to Lucy and Karl, I thank you both for having me document one of the best weddings I’ve ever been to.
