Not only was this my first military wedding, not only was it at The Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst, but it featured both the British and US Military! Jay is an officer in the British Army and Kat flies F15 fighter jets for the US Airforce. How incredibly cool is that?
The day started where it would finish at Elephant Hotel in Pangbourne where Kat and the girls were getting ready. We’d be heading back there later for the reception. Jay and the boys got ready at Jay’s family garage where they work on their wide array of motor bikes. Jay likes his bikes.
The ceremony at Sandhurst was impressive to say the least but also very personal. The chapel there is amazing, a very special place to get married. I felt very privileged just to be there let alone be able to shoot there. To see some more of the Military Academy was also very special and the grounds were perfect for portraits.
After Sandhurst it was back to The Elephant Hotel for the reception. The speeches were heart felt, personal and very funny. And the dance floor! Wow, it really was a crazy one. I love party these guys certainly know how to party.
After this one I can safely say that military weddings rock. Kat and Jay are two of the warmest people you could ever wish to meet and they really made me feel part of the wedding. Thank you both, you have a great group and family and friends and I loved spending the day with them all. It honestly was a privilege.
Many thanks to the talented Luke Hayden for second shooting with me at this one, always a pleasure mate. Here are the photos.
