This one has been far too long coming, it’s a cracker. Back in the summer of 2016 I travelled down to Somerset for Emma and Richard’s wedding near Taunton. From the very first Skype call I knew I was going to love these guys and that their wedding was going to be loads of fun. They liked my documentary wedding photography style and trusted me shoot their day the way it happened. Being big film fans (Emma also happens to be a very successful theatre director) many of their favourites such as Star Wars and The Wizard of Oz made appearances in the details they had put together. The star of the show had to surely be the life sized Storm Trooper balloon which proved a huge hot with the adults as well of the kids. I think Storm Trooper possibly makes more appearances in this post than the bride or groom!
Emma and Richard had their wedding ceremony at the lovely St Michael’s Church, Chaffcombe. Richard was pretty relaxed but their beautiful daughter had been missing mummy and was very happy to see Emma walking up the hill to meet her. After the ceremony they exited the church to the Throne Room and Finale music from Star Wars and had a Light Sabre Guard of Honour! I told you they were film fans!
Then it was off to Chard Reservoir in their classic Cadillac for portraits where Emma and Richard got some time to themselves and I had a very refreshing paddle in the water. I really did. Anything to get in the right spot for a photo! The cool water was more than welcome on such a hot day. The reception was held in a marquee in Emma’s parents’ beautiful garden near Chard. Highlights included a Bake Off for desserts, emotional speeches amid a mass of playing children, a bouncy castle, camp fires, festoon lights and the removal of said inflatable Storm Trooper’s legs.
So a huge, if slightly belated, congratulations to Emma and Richard. And also a second congratulations on the recent birth of their second child. Hope you’re all managing to at least get some sleep. If you’re looking for a wedding photographer I’d love to hear from you and while you’re here please check out some more of my work. Here are a few of my favourites from the Emma and Richard’s day.
Looks like such an awesome day! Such blue sky – in Britain? Beautifully captured.
It’s all about the little kid in the big red shoes, such a frame!!!!
Looks like a really fun wedding. Some great moments caught.
Awesome documentary work! Loads of brilliant and quirky moments, layering and framing! You know we can usually provide those sorts of blue-sky days down here in the South (that last statement *might not* be true). The flower girl on the dress is my fave!
Nicely played my man. Your editing is accurate – and I truly love it! Beautiful storytelling too. 3rd from last is absolutely amazingly awesomely incredible!!!
Lucked out with that weather! Props to you for controlling that light. Looks awesome 🙂
So many of these made me smile. That little flower girl is just the cutest. Love the shot of her in the red shoes. So much fantastic reportage stuff in here. All about those moments!
Great story telling mate – love that shot of the little girl in the big shoes! So many great moments.
Sick shots! Really good moments captured at that wedding 😀
Love some of the extreme angles, the crazy baby doll shot & the ballon thing aiming at the girl
