It’s been far too long since I blogged a family shoot and no better place to start than this lovely London family. Kash and Nick got in touch to book me as their London family photographer to commemorate their time in their first family home in Streatham. They had a move out of the city planned and but wanted photographs of their son Remy in the house where he grew from baby to cheeky toddler and leader of the pack alongside their Dalmatian dogs Maggie and Bou.
When I arrived Remy was asleep and being a father of two myself I know how grumpy kids can be just after a nap. But he was an absolute star, quickly waking up and getting on with the important business of playing with his wooden train set, running around in the garden and “helping” mummy and daddy pack their books into boxes. Remy’s room was so cool and stylish, what a lucky boy.
Like my wedding photography, I prefer unposed family photography. Yes, there’s nothing wrong with a few set up family portraits, they’re important. But kids are so naturally wonderful. Their genuine smiles and expressions light up a room. It was those expressions in my own kids that ignited my passion for photography and that’s what I want to give to the families who book me for their photography. Just let them play, let them be kids, have fun together and i’ll do the rest. No fake smiles, no cheese, no studio lights and backdrops, just beautifully natural photos of you and your family.
Here are some of my favourite photos from the shoot. To Kash, Nick and especially little Remy, thank you so much for inviting me into your home. Really hope to see you all again soon.
If you like this style of natural, unposed family photography why not check out my family portfolio and get in touch to book in a shoot for your own family. I’d love to hear from you.
